You need to install the mysql/mariadb development package, like specified in the README file.

After some research, it seems that the MySQL (and therefor also Mariadb) Project fairly uniquely does not build in a typical way, so source and headers are not normally available or distributed for anyone, but a special separate effort has been made to support CentOS7/RHEL.
Since source/headers are specific to the version of MySQL/Mariadb installed, instead of replacing the current distributed Mariadb from the distro with a "foreign" CentOS version, I've decided to try PostgreSQL instead, and if I run into issues then SQLite3, both of which commonly make development headers available.

It looks like an attempt to fix the packages for SUSE/openSUSE has just been posted with updated instructions
So, I'll put my efforts to install from source on the back burner for now in favor of testing the new instructions, but there is still a lot of missing I can add even to the current instructions for initially setting up before the first Prelude package is downloaded.
Am interested in messaging with whomever is doing the work for the SUSE/openSUSE install, is it you Antoine?
Although my contribution can wait until after I've verified the entire install works, I'm also happy to speed improvements for those things I'm already very certain about.

I'm doing the work for OpenSuse (and other distributions). The wiki is for the packaged version.
Can you let us know what is missing in the wiki ? I run the procedure and it works on my side.
